Hi Paul: I live in Canada and found you when surfing on the net. I LOVE your work, abstracting the landscape is where I want to go with my painting. I was wondering if you do these paintings 'en plein air' or in the studio? I seem to be able to work from my plein air work or photos to make more abstracted work, but have a hard time actually doing it on location -way too much information that is fun to try to capture. Some days I am able to do it on location, but not often. Suggestions??
Hi Sharon. Ta very much. All my work is completed at my studio. I do have plans to work ‘plein air’, but it’s just not practicable presently. However, whether you, or I, are in the studio, or out in the field, I believe the same process should apply: cut down the extraneous information and state your intension clearly. Will you be posting your work online?
Hi Paul. I have enjoyed viewing your gallery so much. Very inspiring. Could you tell me what medium you use for your washes? I'm guessing it is acrylic plus water or acrylic medium but I may be mistaken. John
Hi John. Apologies for not answering earlier – I’ve only just seen this. I use water mainly, and acrylic slow drying gel very occasionally.
